Christmas Eve craziness

Just like many of you I expect this week has been one full of various preparations for the big day. Oh, how we all end up scurrying about in the days running up to Christmas… Well, that’s me pretty much done. I am now on the train home (YAYYYY) and will be arriving at my destination in approximately five hours.

I’m slightly concerned about my bag though, which is at the bottom of the bag stacking pile (as I was one of the first stops) and I really hope nothing too heavy gets slammed on top of all of my lovely wrapped presents! (Here’s hoping they’re okay!)

Anyone who knows me personally, will know that I am very much a "light traveller" so they
will understand that the fact that the necessity for me to travel with a large holdall/suitcase is
definitely going to be simply to accommodate presents. See, I really have bought quite a lot..

I can’t believe how many presents I have done for everyone this year… It is the first year that I have ever ‘started early’ (by this I started mid- November- I know some of you crazy fools will have started even earlier) and I have decided that the process of ‘starting early’ is actually catastrophic in the financial respect… wonderful for your friends and family though….

Basically I discovered that I ended up buying so much more for all of my recipients as I kept seeing little bits and pieces that would be a good 'stocking filler'; or thinking of a new ‘really great idea for a big present’ …

You know how the general ‘chit chat’ you get from every sales assistant is

“So is that you finished your shopping for Christmas now?”

Well, I have decided that until Christmas day, I will never fully be ‘finished’ because I will just continue to buy new bits and pieces until I no longer can! It’s so bad! But I really do love giving presents!

So, anyway, once I arrive back home (about midday Christmas Eve) my delightful Daddy will be coming to meet me; and as is tradition… I will be going Christmas shopping with him.

Christmas Eve is the day that my dad starts and finishes his Christmas shopping.

Crazy, I know! And, like I said, it is traditional. Every Christmas as far back as I can remember, I go Christmas shopping with my Dad. Just the two of us. And I love it. It’s one of my favourite parts of Christmas. Especially now that I live away from home… It’s very rare to spend solid time just with my Dad, so it will be lovely.

Anyway, I would like to wish all of my lovely readers a very, very, Merry Christmas!

Jessie,

Christmas 'lust' list

So it's that time of year where you find yourself asking loved ones what they want for Christmas, and vice versa. Every year, you rack your brains for something you would like/need but most people tend to be realistic in their Christmas lists. For this reason, I have put together a Christmas 'lust' list, full of things I absolutely do not need, but would absolutely love. I suppose I should point out the fact that there is no way I would expect any of these items in a million years... but... if you are feeling generous...

Here's my Christmas 'lust' list.

So, if money were no object- what would you ask for this Christmas?

Countdown to Christmas

I can't believe it's the end of November already! I am still having to think about what month it is when I write the date at work! Anyway, I had a visit from my lovely Mum and Dad earlier this week, and with them they brought.... ADVENT CALENDARS for myself and Euan.

Euan's one is the Gruffalo one, and mine the Lindt one. My mum also bought the Gruffalo one for my two brothers, and apparently they were very jealous of my luxurious Lindt calendar! Haha... I suppose that's what you get for being the only girl, and living so far away from home!

I am so excited to have my first chocolate! When I was little I used to eat it first thing in the morning, but I think this will be an evening treat, after dinner, with a lovely cup of tea :)

Have you got your advent calendar?

Which is your favourite John Lewis Christmas ad?

The highly anticipated, well waited for John Lewis Christmas advert has arrived! For many this means "It's Christmas time". After just four hours of the mini film being on youtube, it can already boast 90,180 views! Extraordinary.

So if you've not yet seen it- here it is :)

2014 - Monty the Penguin

What do you think? To be completely honest, I am a tiny bit disappointed with it.
To say that they spent £7 million on this campaign.. I mean, yes it's "sweet" and "Christmas-y"... But I mean, if anything people will want a penguin- and not just a toy one... and last time I checked John Lewis did not sell living Arctic animals.

Nevertheless, I do like the way they capture the fun that children have in their imaginary worlds, and the idea of "Give someone the Christmas they've been dreaming of". So yes, I think it's cute. But worth £7 million? I beg to differ.

My favourite thing about the adverts is the way they capture "love" in each of them. For me Christmas is about love, about giving, and embracing happiness with the people you love. And I think that John Lewis manage to deliver this with each of their ads.

So now comes the big question, and I would love you to answer my poll... Which John Lewis Christmas ad is your favourite?

For mine I am torn between 2011 and 2012... Before you answer I have put the adverts just below so you can remind yourself!
